[NEWS] How did I miss this?

H.R. 3402
More Here

A new federal law states that when you annoy someone on the Internet, you must disclose your identity. Here's the relevant language.

"Whoever...utilizes any device or software that can be used tooriginate telecommunications or other types of communications that aretransmitted, in whole or in part, by the Internet... without disclosinghis identity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass anyperson...who receives the communications...shall be fined under title18 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

What makes this really interesting for me? I went through CNN, ABC, MSNBC, Washington Post, NYTimes and could find NO articles about it from those publications. A lot of the independent pubs are reporting it. Reuters didn't even have any articles on it.

152/170

Supposedly if you've seen over 70 movies, you have no life, but then we all know where I spend a LOT of my spare time.... Number the ones you've seen. Put your score in header and repost.

[RANDOM] Ticketmaster grievances

While I love going to shows and concerts, it seriously offends me when I get charged almost 1/2 the ticket value for service and processing charges by Ticketmaster. Just...ow...
However, I have my tickets for Boggards on St. Patricks Day and Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz at The Pond...cause I'm dorky that way.

[NEWS] Immersion Journalism

U.S. Teen Runs Off to Iraq by Himself

I'm not even gonna go into the bad judgement this kid practiced in just taking off like he did and going to Iraq to study immersion journalism. Part of me has a begruding respect for him for it. What I will sound off on is that he's 16 and was able to not only get a plane ticket to Kuwait but an entrance visa. Most likely the ticket was NOT sold through a US agnecy and if it was....WOW...we stop an infant at the terminal because their name pops up on a national "do-not-fly" list but this kid obtained a ticket to Kuwait. Kind of makes me stop and wonder for a moment about how easy it really is. Yeah, I know he was flying OUT of the US but still.

I wonder what the slant would be if he had disapeared or been kidnapped and killed. I hope he understands just how lucky he is...16, does not speak the language, probably on limited funds...I'm all for following a goal and making a dream happen, he gets my respect for going that far but seriously...if I stop working for a few months and do nothng but write all that happens if I fail is my savings is depleted and I have to get a job like quick! In his case, he could have been killed and become the new poster-boy for the anti-war movement. I guess that's a goal in and of itself *sigh*

[UPDATE] Of sorts....Xmas before and after

So another year is slowly winding down and where the hell am I? POSTING!

Christmas was really good this year although I could kill UPS. Several packages decided they wanted to go to Seatlle instead of my house and *should* be arriving tomorrow or Thursday. The Jolly Fat Man thought he'd pull a number on me...

Friday...is kind of a blur...I know I did shopping...had dinner with Naomi...can't recall much else.

Saturday, took care of a friend for a bit and then ended up at Deb and Gideon's to hang with them and Kevin and Greg. Greg, the lucky SOB, will be in Amsterdam for New Years. I want brownies.

Sunday....Sunday I didn't wake up til almost 11A. I had a house filled with family. Trent took me out to brunch and we talked about his health and mine. Stopped by and saw my friend Christina (Not Xina) and came back home for dinner and adult conversation. My aunt Lorna from Oregon was in and she brought two of my cousins who I have not seen in an age. After all was said and done, Naomi came by and we went out for dessert and caught up on the loot. She won...hands down....I can't compete with her 60" HDTV....bitch. =)

Monday was appts and errands. Today was more appts and errands. I was gonna go see Munich but didn't get the chance. Maybe tomorrow. I still need to see Memoirs of a Geisha and The White Countess. Match Point also opened so that's on the list. Maybe tomorrow I live at the theatre...anyone wanna join?

So yeah, it was a really good holiday and I'm still on vacation (you may commence hatred) and I'm just waiting for the new year to ring in. Here's hoping you all had a wonderful Xmas and looking forward to a happier New Year!

[RANDOM] Now that's different

So DWP is working on the water main outside my house and they just hit something. I love watching someone tell me everything is under control while a 50' geyser of water is erupting all over my yard.
